Head of Institutional Clients, DACH

Our client is a globally active asset manager with a strong European presence and a growing office in Frankfurt. The firm provides a broad spectrum of public and private market investment solutions, serving a diverse institutional client base – including pension funds, insurers, corporates, and foundations – with a clear focus on long-term, sustainable value creation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand the institutional client business in Germany, with a particular focus on pensions, insurers, corporates, and foundations.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive institutional sales and relationship management strategy aligned with the firm’s global objectives.
  • Build, deepen, and maintain long-term relationships with key institutional stakeholders and consultants.
  • Identify client needs and market trends to position appropriate investment solutions and strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, investment, legal, marketing, and compliance teams to ensure high-quality client service and solution delivery.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings as the senior representative for institutional business in the region.
  • Provide input to senior management on market dynamics, business opportunities, and competitive positioning.

Candidate requirements

  • University degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field; CFA, MBA or other advanced qualifications are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in institutional sales, relationship management, or business development within the asset management industry.
  • Strong network and proven track record with institutional investors DACH.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and investment requirements specific to the German market.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • High level of initiative, ownership, and the ability to work independently while leading client initiatives.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
