Responsibilities

Position Overview

As Head of Capital Formation DACH, you will lead institutional capital raising and client relationship efforts across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You will be responsible for the origination, development, and management of long-term partnerships with institutional investors including Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Foundations, and Consultants.

This strategic leadership role requires an in-depth understanding of institutional investor dynamics in the region, strong knowledge of private markets (particularly infrastructure and real assets), and a proven ability to navigate complex sales cycles. You will collaborate closely with their global investment, product, and client solutions teams to deliver bespoke investment solutions and ensure alignment with investor priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Institutional Business Development & Capital Raising

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the DACH institutional market aligned with our clients` global growth objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for institutional investors in the region, building and deepening trusted, long-term client relationships.
  • Lead fundraising activities for existing strategies (Core/Core+, Value-Add, Energy Transition, Infrastructure Debt, etc.) and support the launch of new strategies and vehicles.
  • Proactively identify and target prospective institutional clients across DACH; manage end-to-end sales and onboarding processes.

 

Client Relationship Management

  • Create and implement strategic account plans for key institutional clients and prospects.
  • Position the firm as a trusted partner through insightful engagement, investment thought leadership, and consistent delivery.
  • Serve as an advisor to clients on portfolio construction, investment themes, and market developments in real assets and private markets.
  • Work closely with consultants and gatekeepers to secure our clients inclusion in institutional searches and mandates.

 

Internal Collaboration & Strategic Alignment

  • Partner with investment, product, and client service teams to ensure effective coordination and delivery to clients.
  • Represent the voice of the client internally, contributing to product development, strategic initiatives, and innovation based on client feedback.
  • Provide input into fundraising materials, RFPs, DDQs, and marketing collateral.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies in all distribution activities.

Candidate requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 12–15 years of experience in institutional business development, capital raising, or client coverage within a leading asset manager, infrastructure firm, or placement agent.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and relationship management across institutional segments (pension funds, insurers, SWFs, consultants) in DACH.
  • Deep understanding of private markets, infrastructure investing, and real assets.
  • Strong network among institutional allocators and consultants in the DACH region.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written); additional languages a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, high degree of ownership, and results-driven mindset.
